Former GOP Speaker of the House seat goes to Democrat
Amazing--and in Kane County, IL no less; one of the reddest counties in that state, if memory serves. I remember being part of a County Fair parade they had there back in the Wesley Clark days. We walked alongside the Democratic Party float and gave out Clark bars to kids sitting on the side of the parade as it went down the rural streets. We got a lot of ugly looks from the adults sitting in their lawn chairs as we went by, but the few progressives in the town made their support known. That was back when the Dean vibe was still going strong, and Barack Obama was facing his 3rd Senate opponent in Alan Keyes.
Hey, speaking of Obama and today's elections, Wyoming was called for him 58%-41%
On a conference call with reporters, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe argued that tonight's results put Hillary in a deeper hole.
He noted that given tonight's results, Hillary has to win 63% of the remaining pledged delegates, which "would mean getting 68% or 70% of the vote everywhere."
"We're getting down the field," Plouffe said.
